Background

Documents recovered from the ruins of Akademeia Nightingale read that Lyra was born East of Werlyt, and her early life was completely unnotable until Garlemald's XIVth legion under Van Baelsar's command had come through the region. Orphaned during local resistance and taken in by the local forces, Lyra was transferred to the Imperial capital and raised by a retired engineer.
Here core Garlean values were instilled into the young Viera during early education: Unity, Equality, a healthy disregard for religion, and a sense of admiration for her conquerer Baelsar.
For Lyra's knack for making things move and keen aetherical sensitivity, the young girl was soon placed into the somewhat-prestigious military academy, Akademia Nightingale and sorted into Class Unicorn for the next decade or so. Lyra's qualifications gained in Class Unicorn included Basic Tactics, Basic Aetherial Manipulation, Level 3 Combat Arcanima, Level 1 Magitek Upkeep, and finally Distinction Level Magitek Armor Piloting.
Records show on a field excercize with an Anti-Eikon divison from the IXth Legion, an illegal act of Eikon summoning took place by the local populace and was dealt with.
Lyra was kept behind as a matter of circumstance whilst the rest of her classmates moved into various Legions for classified "retraining".The papers abruptly end here, with signs of sabotage.

Personality

The Viera known as Lyra is a bit of an eccentric, full of unique idosyncracies and known as an extremely shy person and often in a rather quiet mood and often only offers small talk and replies, many of a rather sarcastic manner if not trying to be professional.
If caught in a talkative mood, Lyra is likely to talk your ear off about the most mundane of topics or passing interests; raising Marmots, alcohol trivia or even the applications of Allagan technology for coffee bean growing; any number of niche trivia is enough to get the Viera's ears to perk and ramble and ramble until the sun sets.
When caught in an unfamiliar or rough situation, Lyra's worrywart personality bubbles to the surface, falling back on a number of mantras and sayings repeated to herself out loud to keep herself from panicking.
Otherwise, Lyra keeps to herself more than usual, opting to hone her mind with a good bit of research, or lounging with a detective novel. If the opportunity is there, Lyra will instead be piloting any sort of Magitek Armor.
Sometimes Lyra will even offer up her scarily effective amateur detective skills out unsolicited.

Lyra will tell you, if pressed, that she travels here and there due to lingering curiosity that grows alongside the Sons of Saint Coinach and a desire to find somewhere to belong.
That much is true, but her first memory is of waking up with an etched deep jade crystal whispering of arcanima techiques to Lyra that keeps her searching for answers.Among other items found on Lyra's person include identification papers placing her as a member of the Sons of Saint Coinach, as well as a cadet at Akademeia Nightingale.
